The 10U Quinte Royals baseball team has once again proven their dominance on the field by securing the Eastern Ontario Baseball Association (EOBA) Championship title for the second consecutive year. After a thrilling weekend of baseball action, the Royals displayed exceptional skill, determination, and teamwork to emerge as champions.
The EOBA finals, which began after some rain delays, saw the Quinte Royals start their series of games on Saturday, where they went undefeated for three consecutive games. The momentum continued on Sunday as the team won their first game, but their undefeated streak was challenged by the Ajax Spartans later that afternoon. Despite a hard-fought battle, the Royals fell short, allowing Ajax to win and advance directly to the final game.
Undeterred by the setback, the Royals faced off against the Peterborough Tigers on Sunday night under the lights and a drizzle of rain. The intense matchup tested the team’s mettle, but they rose to the occasion, securing a crucial victory that propelled them into the finals against Ajax Spartans.
The final game, held on Wednesday, August 14th, at 7:00 PM in Orono, was a showcase of the Royals’ unwavering spirit and talent. With incredible plays and powerful hits, the Quinte Royals outperformed the Ajax Spartans, earning them the EOBA Championship title for the second year in a row.
Head Coach Nathan Vader expressed his pride in the team’s achievement, stating, “I am so proud of all these kids! They all worked their hardest to win and not one player stood out, they all did. A true team effort. A victory like this doesn’t happen without hard work, dedication and commitment from the players, and support from the parents, families and community. Let’s go Royals!”
The Quinte Royals will now set their sights on the Ontario Baseball Association (OBA) Championships, scheduled to take place in Midland over the Labour Day weekend. The entire community wishes them the best of luck as they aim to bring home another title.
Congratulations to the Quinte Royals 10U team on their remarkable achievement!
