Belleville police responded to 86 calls for service over a 24-hour period from 5 a.m. on August 14, 2024 to 5 a.m. on August 15, 2024.
Stolen Vehicle Recovered
On August 14, 2024 at 6:25 a.m., a resident of North Park St reported their 2024 Jeep stolen from their driveway sometime overnight. Police began an investigation. On August 15, 2024 at 12:30 a.m., Belleville police received notification from the Peel Regional Police Service that the stolen vehicle had been recovered in their area. There were no arrests. The vehicle is being processed for evidence.
Breach of Release Order
On August 14, 2024 at 7:10 p.m., Belleville police received a call regarding a taser which had been located on private property at an address on Front St. Police learned that the property owner had noticed a male on his property and the male was requested to leave. A short time later, the property owner discovered the taser in the area where the unwanted male had been on his property. Police attended, collected the taser and through their investigation were able to identify the unwanted male. Officers located the male a short time later. Officers confirmed that the 29-year-old male from Belleville was currently on a release order not to be out of his residence and that he was breaching his probation. As a result, the male was arrested and charged with breaching his release order and breach of probation. He was held for a bail hearing.
Fail to comply with Undertaking
On August 14, 2024 at 9:26 a.m., Belleville police responded to an apartment building in the city’s west end regarding an ongoing neighbour dispute. The complainant advised that their neighbour had removed property from their balcony and that a verbal argument ensued. Upon their arrival, police learned that the neighbour was on an undertaking as a result of a previous dispute. The suspect was not to touch the neighbour’s property or have communication with them. As a result, a 59-year-old female from Belleville was arrested and charged with two counts of breaching her undertaking. She was held for a bail hearing.
Arrested for uttering death threats
On August 14, 2024 at 9:55 a.m., Belleville police responded to a residence in the city’s west end regarding a dispute between roommates. Upon arrival, police spoke to the parties involved. Police learned that there has been an ongoing dispute between the pair, however, on today’s date, one roommate threatened to cause death to the other by stabbing him with an ice pick. As a result, a 32-year-old Belleville resident was arrested and charged with uttering threats to cause death. He was held for a bail hearing.
