The City of Belleville has announced the signing of its ninth physician to the area in 2024.
Dr. Ashwin Balabhadra has been signed to Belleville’s Doctor Recruitment Program.
“Dr. Balabhadra has been a UK-based physician for many years and will be moving to Belleville this fall to take over the well-established practice of Dr. Mirriam Eyesan. We thank Dr. Eyesan for her many years of dedicated service to her patients, for her help in attracting Dr. Balabhadra and we wish her well with this next chapter of her life,” said Mayor Neil Ellis in a press release.
“Dr. Balabhadra has an impressive resume and we are so pleased he has chosen Belleville as his new home. With his experience and caring personality, I know our residents and businesses will make Dr. Balabhadra feel welcome and appreciated.”
The signing was mentioned briefly by Belleville City Council at its meeting on Monday.
“Dr. Balabhadra is coming into town. He should be here in October of this year,” recruiter Karen Poste tells council.
“He is a seasoned physician who will be coming in to take over the practice of Dr. Miriam Eisen. So he will be preventing 1500 patients from being orphaned. So we’re very pleased to have Dr. Balabhadra join us.”
Poste says that Dr. Balabhadra has received his CPSO approval to practise medicine in the area and is awaiting a permanent residence in the area.
She says the program has eight serious inquiries of interest to bring other physicians to the area.
