The local unemployment rate dipped last month.
Statistics Canada says the rate for the Belleville-Quinte West Census Metropolitan Area, which includes Belleville, Quinte West, Deseronto-Tyendinaga and Stirling-Rawdon, fell to 5.8% in July, down from June’s 6.2%.
The national jobless rate held steady at 6.4% last month as the economy shed a modest 2,800 jobs.
Ontario’s unemployment rate fell from 7.0% to 6.7%.
