Prince Edward County council is moving forward with plans to redevelop the H.J. McFarland Home.
During Tuesday’s council meeting, councillors voted to approve a pair of motions related to the future of the long-term care facility.
The first motion directs staff to bring a recommendation to council on awarding a construction tender for the planned new facility. The recommendation is required before the deadline of November 8 to receive provincial funding.
The second directs staff to begin an expression of interest process to seek potential uses for the older building so a plan can be in place for the old structure once the new home is built.
Both motions were passed with brief debate.
