The Belleville Police Service released the 2023 edition of its Annual Report.
As part of the report, it outlines different statistics for the Belleville Police Service from 2023 and 2022, as well as shows the five-year average in some cases.
When it comes to calls for service, Belleville police saw an increase from 2022 with 29,375 calls made in 2023. That’s up from 27,892 in 2022.
Reported crimes did go down with 838 reported for 2023, a drop from the 848 in 2022.
Property crimes increased to 2,331 in 2023 versus 2,198 in 2022.
For Controlled Drug & Substance incidents and charges, there were 87 actual incidents in 2023 compared to 122 in 2022. However, actual charges was up from 2022 with 224 charges laid under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act in 2023. That’s an increase from 200 in 2022.
