Thousands of people are getting set to descend upon downtown Belleville for another instalment of Empire Rockfest.
Dallas Smith brought some country flair to night one of Thursday, which also featured a performance by Quinte Broadcasting’s own Robyn Scott.
Alan Doyle spoke to the Mix Morning Crew and says everyone will be hearing hits like Ordinary Day.
“God I’m so grateful for those songs I’ll tell ya. Even the traditional Newfoundland ones ya know! We couldn’t believe it when people sang them with us, songs about green boats and stuff like that.”
He adds he loves making trips to Belleville to perform at The Empire.
“I can’t wait to be there and I’m super grateful to be asked back. I love playing around The Empire, it’s a very special place in Canada. If you’re in a band for a living, you hope that there’s venues like that that are just designed for great nights out. So I look forward to seeing everybody.”
Empire Theatre owner Mark Rashotte says he is also happy to be welcoming local artists like Robyn Scott of CJBQ, along with bands Luscious and Dead Root Revival.
“Nice we have somebody that’s, I wanted to have the local feel for the whole weekend and so we were able to have that each particular night.”
Also performing are Dizzy, Matt Andersen, and Aaron Pritchett.
