Unwanted person call leads to arrest and charges
On July 12, 2024 at 8:25 a.m., Belleville police responded to a residence in the city’s west end regarding an unwanted person. Upon arrival, police spoke to the involved parties and learned that the unwanted male party had attended the address in an attempt to speak with a former female partner. The homeowner refused entry to the unwanted male. The unwanted male brandished a knife and there was a struggle at the door. The unwanted male slammed the door on the homeowner’s hand causing minor injuries and made threats to kill the homeowner. The unwanted male also slashed a bike tire belonging to the homeowner. As a result of the police investigation, a 39-year-old male from Belleville was arrested and charged with assault, assault with a weapon, uttering threats and mischief. He was held in custody for a bail hearing.
On July 123, 2024 at 9:20 p.m., Belleville police attended a residence in the city’s west end regarding a trouble with youth call. Upon their arrival, police identified the youth and learned that he was wanted on arrest warrants held by the Belleville Police Service for failing to comply with an undertaking. As a result, police arrested the 15-year-old without incident. He was held in custody for a bail hearing.
Arrested on Warrants
On July 12, 2024 at 11:55 p.m., Belleville police attended a residence in the city’s east end regarding a disturbance call. While on scene, police identified a youth who was wanted on an arrest warrant held by the Belleville Police Service. The arrest warrant was for robbery, assault causing bodily harm and theft. As a result, police arrested the 16-year-old male without incident. He was held for a bail hearing.
Traffic stop leads to arrest
On July 13, 2024 at 11:24 p.m., an officer on patrol conducted a traffic stop on Tracey St. While speaking to the driver, the officer believed the driver had been consuming alcohol. The officer administered an approved screening device test. The driver registered a fail. As a result, police arrested and charged 27-year-old Dakota Alexander of Belleville with operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration above 80. He was released on an undertaking with a court date in August.
R.I.D.E. Program
Members of the Belleville Police Service conducted a R.I.D.E. Program (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) during the evening of July 13, 2024 in the city’s north end. Police checked 142 vehicles. One roadside test was administered. There were no charges resulting from the R.I.D.E. Program.
Domestic Assault
On July 14, 2024 at 10:10 p.m., Belleville police were called to a residence in the city’s north end regarding a disturbance at a residence. Officers arrived on scene and learned that a female had assaulted her male partner which resulted in minor injuries to the victim. As a result of the investigation, a 31-year-old Napanee resident was charged with domestic assault and released on an undertaking with a court date in August.
