Northumberland County has announced that the three-year road reconstruction project along County Road 64 (CR 64) in Brighton will begin on July 22.
In a release, the county says that the project will renew approximately 6.9 kilometres of the road, stretching from Elizabeth Street to Stoney Point Road, encompassing both urban and rural sections.
Funding for the project will be done by both Northumberland County and the Municipality of Brighton.
The project will be done in two phases with the first phase, beginning on July 22, lasting approximately eight weeks.
It will focus on the rural section from Harbour Street (south of Brighton) to Stoney Point Road at the edge of the Northumberland County border.
Upgrades to that section include road resurfacing, culvert replacements, paved shoulders to allow for cycle paths, and the installation of an artificial turtle nesting site.
Work on the urban section is scheduled to begin in 2025/2026.
