Belleville police responded to 79 calls for service over a 24-hour period from 5 a.m. on July 8, 2024 to 5 a.m. on July 9, 2024.
Motor Vehicle Collision
On July 8, 2024 at approximately 9:50 p.m., Belleville police and paramedics responded to the intersection of Sidney Street and Bridge Street West for a collision between an electric bike and a car. Two parties who were on the E-Bike at the time of the collision were transported to Belleville General Hospital for treatment for non-life-threatening injuries. The collision remains under investigation and any witnesses are asked to contact the investigating officer Cst. Waite at mwaite@bellevillleps.ca
Traffic Enforcement – Community Safety Zone
On July 8, 2024 at 10:16 a.m., Belleville police were monitoring the speeds of traffic on Palmer Road in the Community Safety Zone. Police observed a vehicle travelling at 73 km/h in the posted 40 km/h zone. Police stopped the vehicle and spoke to the driver. The police investigation revealed that the 56-year-old female from Belleville was also a suspended driver. As a result, she was charged with speeding and driving while suspended. She was issued a summons to appear in traffic court in August.
