Quick response by Belleville firefighters kept a deck fire from causing heavy damage to a duplex on Dundas Street East near Dairy Queen early Tuesday.
Crews were called out to the fire just after midnight. A propane tank was venting at the time of the fire but flames were knocked down quickly limiting the damage to the deck and part of an exterior wall.
Occupants of the structure had escaped safely.
An investigation into a cause is underway.
