An investigation into a reported dine and dash event led to several serious charges against three people in Quinte West.
OPP were called to a local restaurant on Sunday where three people allegedly left without paying and stole tableware.
Police then learned the same individuals were also involved in a single vehicle collision, with their vehicle ending up in the ditch.
Three people were arrested and a loaded firearm was seized.
Tara Gage, age 26 of Oshawa, was charged with:
Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition
Theft under $5000
Careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition
Food and lodging fraud
Failure to comply with an undertaking
Passenger – fail to properly wear seatbelt
Nathan Lopez, age 26 of Toronto, was charged with:
Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition
Theft under $5000
Careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition
Food and lodging fraud
Fail to comply with a probation order – two counts
Failure to comply with undertaking
Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order
Driver – fail to properly wear seatbelt
Andrew Vivian, age 19 of Clarington was charged with:
Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition
Theft under $5000
Careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition
Food and lodging fraud
Fail to comply with probation order
Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order
Passenger – fail to properly wear seatbelt
All three accused were held in custody, with a bail hearing scheduled for this week in Belleville.
