While day one of the free agent season was the big story in the hockey world, the Belleville Senators were also making news Monday, including new assistants to head coach David Bell’s staff.
Stefan Legein joins Belleville following two seasons as an associate coach with the Spokane Chiefs.
Prior to that, Legein spent four seasons with the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League’s Saint John Sea Dogs, winning a Memorial Cup Championship in 2021-22.
Andrew Campbell joins the B-Sens after three seasons as assistant coach with the OHL’s Brantford Bulldogs, the one-time Belleville Bulls franchise, which is also owned by Senators owner Michael Andlauer.
Before turning to coaching, the Caledonia, Ontario native was drafted in the third round of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft to the Los Angeles Kings and played 11 professional seasons.
Bell recently signed a new two-year contract to coach the Belleville Senators.
The B-Sens have also re-signed free agent forward Garrett Pilon and defenceman Jeremy Davies.
Pilon receives a two-year, two-way contract extension.
The contract carries a value of $775,000 US in the National Hockey League and $275,000 US in the American Hockey League for the 2024-25 season, and $775,000 US in the NHL and $300,000 US in the AHL in 2025-26.
Davies agrees to a one-year, two-way contract that carries a value of $775,000 US in the National Hockey League and $350,000 US in the American Hockey League.
