It was quite the Friday night for Centre Hastings resident Ben Danford and his family.

In Las Vegas at The Sphere, with the 31st pick in the 2024 NHL entry draft, Ben Danford was selected by the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The Quinte Red Devils grad was ranked for the draft anywhere between 30th and 91st.
The 18-year-old rearguard comes in at 6’1/185.

Danford had a standout season with the Oshawa Generals of the Ontario Hockey League.

He is a former Hlinka/Gretzky Gold Medalist with Team Canada and also helped lead his Generals to the OHL Championship Series this spring.
He is also a winner at the World U17 Hockey Challenge.
Danford is expected to return to the Generals this fall, but will most likely attend the Toronto Maple Leafs Prospects Camp before that.
