There has been a special winner of a special lottery.
Joan Campbell of Stirling is the winner of Belleville General Hospital Foundation’s grand prize in the inaugural Cruise4Cancer lottery, winning a Sea-Doo Switch Cruiser worth almost $39,000.
Joan and her husband Don are long and loyal supporters of BGHF and Joan is currently undergoing cancer treatment.
“We never really expected to win, we just don’t know what to say, this is incredible,” said Don.
Cruise4Cancer was BGHF’s first partnership with Bay Marine and owners, Wes and Candace Bristow and was a great success, selling 4,978 tickets and raising more than $100,000.
BGHF Executive Director Steve Cook says with the demand for cancer services on the rise, the funds have ne er been more needed.
One in two people from Quinte Health’s catchment spanning Bancroft to Picton, Brighton to Napanee, now diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime.
Belleville General Hospital has seen a staggering 36% increase in cancer care services over the last four years.
Since inception, BGHF’s lotteries have raised more than $1,200,000 for cancer patients in the region.
The Foundation’s next lottery, Car4Cancer set to launch over the summer.
