Hospice Quinte welcomed five new members to the Board of Directors at its Annual General Meeting Monday night held at St. Matthews United Church in Belleville.
Looking to help guide the organization going forward are Stuart Wright, Suzanne McGurn, Melissa Champagne, Deborah Goegan, and Vince Lynch. Some position changes were announced as well with former treasurer Breanne Matthews moving into the role of president, Marian Henson becoming secretary, and Katie Cudmore taking over the role of treasurer. They will join returning board members David Burrows, Wanda Stewart, Tim Weaver, and vice president Stan Dafoe.
Executive Director Petra Lepage said, “We are excited to welcome our new members to an already excellent board, and we look forward to working with them to continue growing Hospice Quinte even further beyond the great organization it is today.”
Hospice Quinte also presented awards to retiring board members including President Kim Lander, secretary Susan Barberstock, Kate Gardner, and Karinda Dockrill.
The eventful evening began with a volunteer appreciation dinner, which saw Hospice Quinte’s most dedicated volunteers recognized. Among the dozens awarded were volunteer Bev MacKenzie, who won the 2024 June Callwood Circle of Outstanding Volunteers Award presented by Hospice Palliative Care Ontario. The award recognizes a nominee’s dedication to hospice palliative care.
Hospice Quinte provides individuals, their families, and caregivers with compassionate end of life care, by attending to their physical, psychosocial and practical needs, and offering empathetic care to those who are grieving through visiting hospice services and support groups. All Hospice Quinte programs and services are provided by compassionate, well-trained volunteers and staff at no charge to the individual or their family.
