Belleville Firefighters responded to a small apartment fire on Alexander Street in the East Hill early Thursday afternoon.
Deputy Chief Mark Shannon tells Quinte News fire crews were called to a 12-plex around 1:15 p.m.
The fire was quickly extinguished with minor smoke damage to the apartment.
Two occupants were treated for smoke inhalation by Hastings Quinte Paramedics and transported to hospital.
Fire investigators are looking into the cause.
There is no estimate of damage at this time.
