Bancroft OPP have charged a driver while conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program on Saturday.
Just before 3:30 a.m., police say a vehicle failed to stop for the program.
A short time later, officers were able to locate the vehicle in Bancroft.
An investigation resulted in the driver being arrested for impaired.
Police also found that three children, all under 12, were in the back seat without seatbelts/car seats.
The driver from Bancroft, who was not identified by police, was charged with the following:
- Operation while impaired -Alcohol
- Operation while impaired – Over 80
- Drive while a passenger under 16 fails to properly wear a seatbelt x 3
- Fail to stop for police
- Fail to surrender insurance card for motor vehicle
- Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Bancroft on July 16, 2024.
