The Quinte Economic Development Commission’s Elevate Plus program has received funding for the next fiscal year.
Chris King, from the Economic Development Commission, shared some details on the project’s recent success during Thursday’s committee meeting. He said that every participant from the last run of classes has received full-time employment and that the program is ahead of schedule to meet the 2024 goals for graduates entering the workforce.
“The program really is about taking people with barriers to employment, and putting them through a series of training programs to get them job ready,” said King. “Which includes both technical manufacturing skills, but also soft skills that a lot of the employers are looking for, as well as communication skills.”
Funding for the program was provided by the Ministry of Labor, Training, Immigration and Skills Development.
The next set of courses is set to begin in September.
