Brighton’s Economic Development Department has come up with a unique way for residents and visitors to learn about Brighton’s past.
The Heritage and History Hunt will run through the summer (until August 31, 2024).
Last year, staff began working on a webpage featuring an interactive map of the locations of historical and heritage plaques in the municipality.
Mayor Brian Ostrander says the scavenger hunt was developed to promote the map and encourage in-person visits to these historical locations to learn more about the people and events that have shaped Brighton.
“They’ll go around from various sites in the community, collect information, answer questions. Trivia history, trivia questions about Brighton.”
Mayor Ostrander says Ontario’s small communities have a rich heritage.
“Just a fun way to get folks interested in Brighton, in Brighton’s past. And, whether you’re local, or new to Brighton or visiting the community, we hope you’ll engage in this little heritage hunt.”
It is a family-friendly tour.
Clue cards can be obtained at:

- Presqu’ile Provincial Park (Park Store)

Anyone who completes a card is eligible for a gift certificate that can be redeemed for a treat from a local business.
