5:30 p.m. UPDATE: On X late Saturday afternoon Lennox and Addington OPP offered more information on the incident on Enright Road in the hamlet of Read which is north of Shannonville.
Police say they responded to a 911 call. Officers are investigating a non-suspicious death and the province’s police watchdog the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) invoked its mandate.
OPP add there is no threat to public safety and say any information on the matter will be coming from the SIU.
A heavy police presence has been reported in Reid, a small community near Shannonville.
According to the Ontario Provincial Police, there is a heavy police presence on Enright Road, between Weiss Road and Reid Road.
One source tells Quinte News there was an active shooter in the area, however, this was not confirmed by police.
Police are saying there is no threat to the public at this time.
Lennox and Addington OPP, along with officers from the Smiths Falls detachment, are investigating.
