Charges are expected to be with withdrawn at a Napanee court Tuesday, related to the misuse of funds by local members of the Highland Waters Métis Council.
In June 2023, three people were charged, 79-year-old Robert Lloyd, his son 51-year-old Scott Lloyd, and daughter 54-year-old Candace Lloyd.
All three served on the Highland Water Métis Council in Lennox and Addington County.
L&A OPP’s Crime Unit indicated that nearly $90,000 had been fraudulently used, after being contacted by the Métis Nation of Ontario.
Scott Lloyd’s charges were withdrawn last fall, while Candace’s and Robert’s charges are expected to be withdrawn this week.
The Highland Waters Métis Council is one of 32 councils under the jurisdiction of the Métis Council of Ontario. It oversees about 800 members in Lennox and Addington County
