Plenty of items are up for approval at Monday’s meeting of Belleville Council.
Council will discuss a policy to reduce the number of false alarms police respond to.
Staff are asking for council’s approval to proceed with preparing a Verified Alarm Response by-law using a Cornwall policy as a template.
Also up for approval is a Heritage Permit request for 15 Market Street – the Memorial Arena – to complete work necessary for the planned Memorial Market Place.
Heritage Belleville and staff support the proposal noting it preserves the heritage value of the building that was designated a heritage property several years ago.
The Belleville Chamber of Commerce will also provide a report on planning and needs for Canada Day festivities and the 46th Annual Waterfront Multicultural Festival in July.
Canada Day at West Zwick’s Park will include a pancake breakfast, entertainment, family activities and fireworks.
At the Waterfront Festival there will be a multicultural food village, vendor marketplace, entertainment and a midway.
The Chamber is also seeking support to set up a licensed area to serve alcohol.
Council meets at 4 p.m. at City Hall.
