The City of Belleville is alerting the public that it has been made aware of a door-to-door driveway paving and other construction scams in the area.
Some reports received by the city have suggested that some impersonate City of Belleville staff to solicit their driveway spraying, yard maintenance and other services.
Residents are being reminded that city staff do not go door to door selling services. Residents are also asked to do their due-diligence before hiring contractors including looking out for the following:
- Cash-only service and or asking for cash up front
- Lack of proper equipment
- Asphalt products produced far away
Road Cut Permits/Occupancy Permits are required while working on the city’s portion of a driveway.
