Habitat for Humanity Prince Edward-Hastings is the recipient of the One Habitat Award.
According to a press release, the award is given out by Habitat for Humanity Canada. It recognizes “the example of exceptional integration of all Habitat for Humanity does – communications, operations, governance – with the goal of serving more families in our country and around the world.”
Habitat for Humanity PEH was recognized for its commitment to Habitat’s vision ensuring everyone has a decent place to live.
The group also held its annual meeting on May 15.
Some of the highlights of the meeting included the following:
- Supported three new families in affordable homeownership in 2023
- two new land acquisitions in Picton and Marmora which will provide homes for seven families
- Securing new lease for 6,500 sq. ft. of retail space to support Trenton ReStore at 266 Dundas Street East, which opened its doors April 1, 2024
- 425 tonnes (424,683 kg.) of material diverted from landfill through donations to the ReStore
