Installation of new accessibility equipment at Wellington Rotary Beach has been completed.
Wellington Rotary Club and Prince Edward County announced the completed installation on Thursday.
The improvements include a Mobi-mat, a mat that rests on top of the sand and stretches all the way down to the water providing easy access for those in wheelchairs, families with strollers, or others with mobility challenges who have trouble moving on sand. Two floating beach wheelchairs are also now available for anyone who needs them.
The wheelchairs will be stored at the beach during the summer. The beach steward, who will start in a couple of weeks, will provide access to the Mobi-Chairs.
