The Belleville Senators played the longest game in their history Wednesday night, however, it didn’t end the way they wanted.
Owen Silinger scored at 4:41 of the second overtime to lift the Cleveland Monsters over the B-Sens 3-2 and into a 2-1 lead in the best-of-five AHL North Division semi-final.
Both of Cleveland’s wins in this series have come in overtime.
Belleville coach David Bell:
Josh Currie (3rd) and Donovan Sebrango (2nd) scored for the Senators who rallied from a 2-0 first period deficit.
Bell says the team will use Thursday’s off day to recover.
Five of Belleville’s six post-season games have been decided by one goal including four in overtime.
Attendance at the Rocket Mortgage Field House was 12659.
Game 4 on Friday in Cleveland is a must-win game for Belleville.
If a fifth game is necessary it will also be in Cleveland on Sunday.
