Tamara Kleinschmidt is the Executive Director of the MFRC and tells Quinte News the importance of the family cannot be underestimated.
“Well before there were Trenton Military Family Resource Centres, there were military families doing the work amongst themselves and supporting each other and helping each other.”
Kleinschmidt adds they raise the money for the unexpected.
“We are funded by the Department of National Defence to do programming around relocation and absences. But families often have issues that are unexpected, particularly when you move them halfway across the country.”
She continued that the funds from the gala help, where traditional funding would not qualify.
The gala will highlight the role of the family over the last century of the Royal Canadian Air Force.
The Invisible Ribbon Gala will once again feature a three-course culinary experience, silent and live auctions, raffles, and honour several individuals, for their support of the military.
