The organization responsible for monitoring and adjusting water levels on Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence River system is forecasting below-average water levels for the next six months.
However, the International Lake Ontario-St. Lawrence River Board cautions that long-term weather forecasting is not accurate and future rainfall or drought could change any predictions quickly.
So far this year, levels in Lake Ontario have been close to seasonal long-term averages, with recent rainfall making up for less snowmelt running into the lake.
