Hypothermia may be a bigger concern than bacteria, but the Hastings-Prince Edward Health Unit has issued its first e-coli beach report for the season.
Higher than acceptable levels of the bacteria were found in the Trent River at Frankford Park this week.
The health unit, as a result, has posted the beach as unsafe for swimming this weekend.
The Health Unit in Port Hope will begin issuing water safety updates for public beaches in Brighton and Trent Hills in a few more weeks
