An inmate has been charged following a serious assault at Millhaven Institution, west of Kingston.
Police say an edged weapon was used to assault another inmate on Monday night.
The victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
The OPP-led Joint Forces Penitentiary Squad arrested 24-year-old Ekene Angibo on Thursday, charging him with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and carrying a concealed weapon.
The accused remains in the custody of the Correctional Service of Canada and was scheduled to appear in court in Napanee on Friday.
