A zoning application for a new subdivision in Picton has been recommended for approval but not before significant amendments.
During Wednesday’s meeting, the Prince Edward County Planning and Development Committee received a report from municipal staff and the developer on a planned subdivision to be known as Tulip Estates on Loyalist Parkway, otherwise known as Bridge Street, in Picton.
As presented, Hilden Homes proposed a subdivision with 119-352 units featuring a mix of single family homes and townhouses with access points from Bridge and Owen streets.
Several residents opposed the development, citing traffic and water pressure concerns. After a long debate the committee recommended council approve the rezoning and draft plan of subdivision with conditions including adding apartments to one part of the property and installing streetlighting.
