The Rochester Americans smashed the Belleville Senators 8-2 on Saturday.
Wyatt Bongiovanni, and Kyle Betts scored for the Senators.
The Americans came out swinging in an explosive first period, racking up four goals while keeping the Senators off the scoreboard. They extended their lead in the second with two unanswered goals. In the third, the Senators finally scored two of their own, but the Americans picked up two, holding on to their massive lead and winning the game.
Belleville Sens Head Coach Dave Bell said the team is focusing on their upcoming games.
“I thought the guys have battled extremely hard and won those five games in a row to get themselves in the position that they are,” said Coach Bell. “If you look at the injuries we took this trip, to lose your top three defensemen in Heatherington, Guenette and Larsson, it’s a big hole to fill. It was a valiant effort by the guys.”
The Senators are back in action on Wednesday, hosting the Syracuse Crunch at CAA Arena.
