Nineteen students from East Northumberland Secondary School combined efforts to win top high school
honours at the 2024 Peterborough Regional Science Fair, held at Trent University on April 9.
Senior Division Results
1. Tatum Deville and Kaitlyn Lungley won the Earth and Environmental Sciences division for their project,
“Building a Sustainable Future.” They also won the Community Betterment Award.
2. Eddie Morrison, Aidan Miklos and Owen Turner won the Computing and Engineering Sciences division for
their project, “The Evolution of E-discourse.” The group also won a $400 Ontario Tech Innovation Award
and two $1000 entrance scholarships to the University of Ottawa.
3. Callie Fobear and August Nadolny were second in Earth and Environmental Sciences for their project,
“Plastic Pollution? Comfy Solution!” August also took home a random rookie award.
Intermediate Division Results
1. Dominic Noreau and Ashley Pearson received Honourable Mention in Computing and Engineering Sciences
for their project, “Best Telescope Ever.” They also won a Peterborough Astronomy Award.
2. Aaron Davis and Victoria Fraser were second in Physical and Mathematical Sciences for their project on
candy crystallization.
3. Violet Atkinson was third in Health and Life Sciences for her project, “Teenagers and Nicotine – Enablers
of a Century.”
4. Payton Slimmon and Jade Baik earned the $200 Maple View Farms Award in Health and Life Sciences for
their project on loneliness.
5. Ellie Girdlestone and Veronica Mitchell presented, “The Psychology of Swifties.”
6. Rajaesha Rathnakumar and Kazia Bailey presented, “8,000,000,000 and Counting.”
7. Kaylee Parr presented, “The Privacy Problem”.
