Prince Edward County Council has approved a tender to allow the purchase of a new pump truck for Prince Edward County Fire.
The approval was given during Tuesday’s council meeting.
The cost for the new fire truck is $621,069 plus tax.
The new pump truck purchase is to cover a shortage of trucks at Station 1 in Picton, which has only a single pump truck. Previously, additional pump trucks from other stations have been called in to help cover the shortage when Station 1’s pump is already on a call.
Council approved the tender after brief debate.
