The Trenton Golden Hawks shut out the Cobourg Cougars 5-0 on Friday night, taking Game 1 of their playoff series.
Barret Joynt, Jamie Darlison, Corbin Roach, David Fournier, and Cooper Matthews scored for the Golden Hawks.
The Golden Hawks got off to a strong start with two first period goals, followed by three more in the second period, all while keeping the Cougars from getting on the board. A penalty-filled third period saw neither team score, giving the Golden Hawks the win.
The Golden Hawks are back in action for Game 2 of their seven-game series on Sunday.
