The Doula Support Foundation is set to be the latest recipient of a
donation from 100+ Women Who Care Quinte.
The not-for-profit agency offers Doula services in Quinte and
surrounding areas for those experiencing financial or other
challenges.
Tamara George said the donation will “make a huge difference” because
it will allow them to help those who have been waiting for their
services.
“This is huge,” George said following Wednesday night’s meeting.
“We have been on an intake freeze since September. So many families
have reached out and have wanted support through pregnancies, births
and postpartum experiences. We have been lacking the resources to
help them. We will be able to reach out now.”
Doula Support Foundation is now the 31st local organization to receive
support from 100+ Women Who Care Quinte. A donation total will be
released at a later date.
The premise behind the group is to gather 100 people together four
times per year, with each person or group of four donating $100 so
that a local charity or non-profit gets a $10,000 funding boost.
Since its inception in 2015, 100+ Women Who Care Quinte have donated
over $322,000 to 30 local charities.
