Northumberland County continues efforts to make more affordable housing available in Cobourg.
Friday the County officially bought a 14 acre piece of land owned by the Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board for four million dollars or less, depending on environmental assessments.
Northumberland Warden Brian Ostrander says the land on Westwood Drive will be made available for affordable housing projects.
Also recently, the county used provincial government funding to purchase a former retirement residence at 310 Division Street in Cobourg to be renovated into a 35 bed homeless shelter complete with food and other services.
