Belleville’s Economic Development Committee is working on filling the void left by Cascades.
In February, the company announced it was shutting down its Trenton and Belleville plants.
FIn Belleville, 80 employees were laid off.
At its meeting on Thursday, the committee says there were two information sessions at the Belleville plant. During that session, work featured in the Quinte Career Fair was shared.
In the meantime, staff and community partners are helping support the employees affected by the layoffs and providing them directions on next steps for their careers.
In an update from Bay of Quinte Economic Development, it was mentioned that the group had received interest from other parties about acquiring the buildings in Belleville and Trenton.
Cascades is expected to have details on a sale process in April.
