Ontario Premier Doug Ford is preparing to visit Belleville on Friday, to discuss Belleville’s progress in building more homes with Mayor Neil Ellis.
Belleville has exceeded its 2023 housing target under the provincial plan to build 1.5 million homes by 2031.
Communities that meet or exceed 80% of their targets are eligible to receive funding through the Building Faster Fund.
Belleville’s 2023 target was 227 housing starts, and achieved a total of 644.
The 10-year housing target for Belleville is 3100 housing starts. Since 2022, Belleville has achieved 874.
