As work continues toward the creation of The Bridge, an integrated services hub for the homeless and addicted in Belleville, another organization is working on coming up with a more regional approach to the issue.
Thursday at a meeting of Hastings County Council, CAO Connor Dorey said Ontario Health will be sending members of the Health Common Solutions Lab to the area within the next few days to discuss options with various local leaders.
The Lab has several years of experience working with communities in the area of mental health and addictions.
Leading the intiative locally are Canadian Mental Health Addictions and United Way Hastings and Prince Edward with support from others representing Quinte area communities.
Dorey says a report from the group is expected to be ready by the end of March or early April.
