Belleville could have a 12-bed hostel for the homeless before this winter. Last year the homeless in the Hastings-Quinte area spent a total of 732-nights in accommodation provided by the Social Services. Director Eric Frye says they needed more, and in fact ran out of spaces earlier this year, having to send people out of town. The hostel would be half the motel cost, 58-thousand last year. County Council will be asked to approve the project.
