Quinte West council will decide whether or not to get the ball rolling on a project making a stretch of road in west end Trenton safer for pedestrians at its meeting Wednesday.
Council will see a staff report recommending that design work begin for sidewalks and lighting on a section of 2nd Dug Hill Road south of Dundas Street West in the area of the Trenton Christian School.
Late last year a petition with well over 2,000 names was presented to council demanding safety improvements on 2nd Dug Hill Road after a 14-year-old girl was killed by a vehicle in November while walking friends.
Quinte West council meets at 4:30 Wednesday in council chambers.
