The Batawa Ski Racing team completed a busy weekend of Giant Slalom racing with its U10, U12, U16 and U19 teams competing in the Barrie and Collingwood areas.
The U19 team travelled to Toronto Ski Club at Blue Mountain for their SCUP Finals race. It was a long day for the athletes including a course reset and inspection during ever-deteriorating conditions. In the men’s race, Batawa placed three racers in the top 10 with Ian Isbester capturing his third Gold of the season followed by Spencer Dullard-Krizay winning Silver. Bodin MacDonald finished ninth.
In the women’s race, Anabella Cowling-Zeljkovic persevered to place fourth.
The U12 team was at Heights of Horseshoe just north of Barrie for a GS race.
In the women’s race, Gwenna Cone placed sixth in a field of over 80 racers. On the men’s side, Avery Forrest captured Silver in a very tight race for the Gold.
The U16 team travelled to Georgian Peaks in Collingwood for the SCUP Finals for their Giant Slalom finale. Rachel Brady completed two outstanding runs in tough conditions to capture Silver in this end of season final.
