Northumberland OPP have arrested a man in connection with a gunfire incident near Colborne early Saturday (February 10).
OPP responded around 1 o’clock in the morning to a residence after a domestic violence-related call in the area of Highway 401 and County Road 25.
A man shot at police and officers returned fire. The man had to be taken to hospital for treatment.
Monday, OPP charged a 28-year-old Northumberland County man with careless use of a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous person, spousal assault and other charges.
His name will not be released to protect the identity of the victim.
Meanwhile, the province’s Special Investigations Unit is involved because police discharged a firearm at a person.
