A fairly big housing development proposed for the west end of Belleville has been given the green light by city council.
Monday, city council approved removing the “hold” symbol on land at 7 Aldersgate Drive freeing up the developer to go ahead and build a three-storey 88-unit seniors apartment building.
The hold was in place until the developer, Aldersgate Homes Inc., met all conditions for site plan approval. Aldersgate Homes is waiting for approvals from the Canada Housing and Mortgage Corporation before starting work.
The apartment building will be part of Aldersgate Village and will feature around 50 affordable units.
