A Belleville councillor supports the city’s push to build a detox centre by asking the provincial government for financial support.
However, Lisa Anne Chatten believes the city needs to get organized and prove itself a responsible partner in the project.
“I would like to request that staff be asked to investigate other Ontario municipalities that are operating a long-term detox facility and to provide recommendations to council on next steps that we need to take in order to get this detox centre closer to reality.”
Staff will bring a report back to council on a proposed detox centre in the near future.
