Lennox & Addington OPP says they were able to recover a stolen vehicle from the Salmon River thanks to help of some alert citizens.
Officers were dispatched to the Salmon River boat launch on Milltown Road by Highway 2 just before 3 p.m. on Monday.
Citizens in the area noticed irregular marks on the shoreline and, according to police, used their boat sonar and camera to discover the vehicle submerged in 16 feet of water approximately 80 feet from shore.
The scene was secured until the next day when the OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit attended.
No one was found in the vehicle.
Police say the vehicle was stolen from the Peel region.
It was towed and transported for a forensic examination.
No charges have been laid and the investigation is ongoing.
