It was another fantastic racing weekend for the Batawa Ski Racing Team.
All teams were competing across Ontario led by Batawa’s first races of the season, and for many their first races ever, for members of the U8 and U10 teams.
On Saturday, Batawa Ski Hill hosted a U8/U10 panel slalom race against Brimacombe.
In a large U8 girls race, Batawa swept the podium as Elle Noce won the Gold medal, Kynlee Thompson took Silver and Adelaide Bhan claimed the Bronze.
Batawa racers filled out many spots in the Top 10 with Lauren Warner finishing fourth, Nora Mahoney fifth, Margaret Bowland sixth, Kate Black finished seventh, Eleanora Burns placed eighth and Tulla Walmsley was ninth.
In an equally large U10 girls race, Meaghan Black led the way for Batawa finishing fifth, Sloane Pascoe was sixth, Blake Morris seventh and Megan Horton placed eighth.
In the U8 boys race, Ethan Black won the Silver medal with Julian Sherman placing fourth and Fletcher Bhan finishing seventh.
For the U10 boys Batawa had five racers in the top 10 led by Cameron Hewton winning the Gold, Jude Bowland fourth, Callum Boyd placed fifth, Patrick Williams eighth and Jack Weeks ninth.
Batawa Ski Racing’s older teams began the Giant Slalom race portions of their season schedule with some excellent results.
The U12 team was in Huntsville and on the Men’s side, Avery Forrest won Gold while on the Women’s side Gwenna Cone claimed the Silver medal.
The U14 team visited the Heights of Horseshoe and were led by Jacob Cuel winning Gold with Jesse Nadolny finishing fourth.
In the U14 Women’s race Marlie Wright finished fifth.
The U16/U19 teams were at Mansfield for their first Giant Slalom Race of the season.
In the U16 Women’s race, Rachel Brady led the way capturing Silver followed by Kaelin Hearn in seventh.
In the U19 Women’s race Alexia Roma Bianchi led the way for Batawa finishing fifth followed by Ileana De Luca in sixth and Anabella Cowling Zeljkovic in ninth.
Ian Isbester won Gold in the Men’s U19 race with Spencer Dullard-Krizay taking the Bronze and Bodin MacDonald finishing seventh.
