On Saturday, January 27th, the Trenton Community Club brought the community together for a day of excitement and goodwill at the United Way Fundraising Community Curling Day. This great event, hosted in support of the United Way Fundraising Campaign, showcased the spirit of unity and generosity that thrives within our community.
The day was brimming with activities that appealed to all, including a delightful lunch, engaging trivia games, and the chance to win from a pool of 23 enticing raffle prizes generously donated by local businesses and donors. A total of 16 teams, each comprising four enthusiastic participants, alongside a dedicated team of over 20 volunteers, contributed to the success of the event.
Divided into two draws, each team was paired with their own volunteer coach, adding an extra layer of camaraderie and support throughout the competition. As the matches unfolded, spirited competition filled the air, with teams showcasing their skills and determination on the ice.
Ultimately, the efforts of the participants and volunteers culminated in an outstanding achievement: a grand total of $4600.00 raised in support of the United Way Fundraising Campaign. The Glass Houses team from the Brighton Fire Department emerged victorious, claiming the top spot, closely followed by the Pink Girls from Raymond James in second place.
On the #2 Side, the Hagarty’s Team, comprised of Lisa Hagarty, Laura NiKolic, Janal Bechthold, and Derek Treffry, celebrated their triumph, with Quality Mechanical securing the second-place position. However, the true winners of the day were the members of the community who came together to support a worthy cause.
A heartfelt thank you extends to the Trenton Curling Club, whose hospitality and facilities provided the perfect setting for the event. Gratitude also goes out to the dedicated volunteers, passionate curlers, and local businesses whose generosity and support made this event a resounding success.
In the spirit of community and compassion, the Trenton Community Club and its supporters have demonstrated the profound impact that collective action can have on the lives of those in need. As we reflect on the success of this fundraiser, let us be inspired to continue working together towards a brighter, more inclusive future for all.
